Back when I was still working my full-time I.T. job, I ran into a spell of amazing good luck as well as some very bad luck. In the late winter and early spring of 2007 it seemed like the deals were flowing like water for me. My partner and I were flush with money, we had a good track record of success, and the banks loved us.
So we started buying houses faster than we could fix them. Let this be your warning! Do not follow my example. Do NOT become a house collector. It makes you desparate. It makes you work harder, not smarter. You become a slave to your debt.
Our first and perhaps biggest mistake, (one that I shall never make again) was hiring a CONtractor by the name of Brad Sweitzer; owner of ProLooks, LLC. Brad is a thief and a con-artist, period! I am told that he may have changed the name of his company. If you are looking for Brad - his last known address was:

My husband and I signed a contract with Brad Sweitzer in December of last year to completely drywall our house. We paid him a down payment but we have yet to have him do the work because of our own delays with the renovation of our house. He told us to contact him when we were ready and I just tried emailing him but, of course, his email address is no longer valid. I searched on google and came up with your website and the directive to “avoid Brad Sweitzer.” I wish I would have found your website sooner
In any event, I’m wondering if you would consider talking with us about this. I see that you have filed a lawsuit against him. It makes me sick to think that we might be out the money we gave him on top of having to now go through the process of finding another drywaller to help us.
Any information you could give us would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE 11/12/08: An email I received from another victim of Brad Sweitzer
My wife and I hired Brad this past May to install a flagstone patio in our back yard. We found him on Craigslist. We paid him half the total cost of the job. Then on the following Monday he came and removed some shrubs from our property. That was the last time I saw him. He would call and tell us he would come and do the work and never show up. He would schedule the concrete to be delivered but never leave a credit card with the company. He told us he would give us a refund but of course it never show up at our house.
Are you still fighting this case? The police told us it is a civil matter. Did you ever settle your case?

UPDATE 11/19/08: An email I received from another victim of Brad Sweitzer
We live in York County , Pa and came across your website when searching for more information on Brad Sweitzer and Pro Looks LLC. He recently went to my mother’s (a retired widow living on Soc. Sec.) home to provide an estimate on some landscaping work she wanted to have done before the winter. Before he left her home, he managed to talk her into signing a work agreement and convinced her to furnish him with a check for 1/3 of the total proposal cost. When I spoke with her that same evening and found out about this transaction, I urged her to cancel the agreement and put a stop payment on the check, which she attempted to do the very next morning. When she contacted her bank to stop payment on the check, she was told that it had already been CASHED and therefore could not be stopped. Apparently he left her home and went straight to her bank and exchanged the check for cash. She then contacted him to cancel the agreement and request that he refund her money because she felt he conned her into giving him the check without having time to review the proposal. At that point, he agreed to cancel the agreement and return her money on Monday. Monday came and went with no contact from Mr. Sweitzer. She waited til the end of that week and called again. This time she was only able to reach his voice mail and she left another message regarding the return of her money. He called back and left a message stating that he was having problems with his accountant and he would make sure they put the check in the mail the very next day. Again she waited for a week and the money never came. It was during this time that I found your website and relayed the information to her and urged her to contact the local police regarding this guy. Which she did. They (the police) then attempted to contact Mr. Sweitzer and left a message on his cell phone. Shortly after that my mother received a phone call from Mr. Sweitzer stating that he would bring a certified check to her on a specific day. The day PRIOR to the day he was supposed to show up with the refund, he contacted my mother again, stating that he would not be able to bring the money himself at the requested time, but that he would have his partner, Jerry Jones, drop the money by in the morning. Again, noone has shown up to refund my mother’s money.
I am urging my mother to continue her complaint with the local police department, but I’m unsure if they can really do anything further to help her. Personally, I’d be satisfied just to see him being taken away in handcuffs in the police car!!
Can you tell me if you’ve had any progress in your case against Brad Sweitzer? Are you familiar with his ‘partner’ Jerry Jones?? Any info you can provide us would obviously be extremely helpful. And if there’s anything we can provide to help your case, we certainly would be willing to help.
